The India–Pakistan conflict has entered a dangerous new phase as Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan Marsoos, retaliating after Indian air raids reportedly damaged four Pakistani military installations across Punjab and PoK. The Kashmir region is now under high alert with evacuations, missile sightings, and international concerns of all-out war.
In a televised statement, the Pakistani military spokesperson claimed that "multiple strategic installations" across India were targeted in response to what they termed as "unprovoked Indian aggression." The operation, called Bunyan Marsoos, included missile launches, drone strikes, and coordinated artillery along the Line of Control (LoC).
Al Jazeera and The Guardian confirm several explosions across India’s border towns, though Indian officials are yet to confirm casualties. Pakistan alleges India hit military depots in Bahawalpur, Sialkot, and Kotli in earlier strikes under Operation Sindoor.
India’s Ministry of Defence reiterated that its earlier missile strikes were aimed only at active terror camps operating near military zones. A senior Indian commander stated, “Any civilian harm is regrettable, but our mission was surgical and intelligence-backed.”
India has not yet launched a counter-operation following Bunyan Marsoos but reports confirm high alert status in Amritsar, Pathankot, and Srinagar. Military bases have moved to DEFCON-3 equivalent preparedness.
France 24 and CNN Español report that thousands have begun evacuating from both sides of the LoC. Schools, hospitals, and civilian buildings are being cleared in anticipation of further air raids.
“We saw missiles in the sky last night,” one resident told Reuters. “We don't know where they landed, but we could feel the ground shake.”
With military action escalating by the hour, the U.N. Security Council has called an emergency session. Meanwhile, the U.S. has updated its travel advisory for Pakistan to Level 4: Do Not Travel, and is urging both nuclear powers to immediately halt offensive operations.
What is Operation Bunyan Marsoos?
It is Pakistan’s military operation launched in retaliation to Indian missile strikes on May 7–8, 2025. It includes air and missile attacks on Indian bases.
Why did India strike Pakistan first?
India’s strikes, under Operation Sindoor, targeted terror camps allegedly responsible for recent attacks in Pahalgam and Jammu.
Are civilians affected?
Yes. Evacuations are ongoing in Kashmir and border towns. Reports confirm damage to residential buildings in both nations.
Will this become a full-scale war?
Global observers fear so. The U.N., U.S., and other international bodies are calling for immediate de-escalation as both nations exchange heavy fire.
